And though we don’t have the best address, the City of Cape Town is upgrading the area. Resurfacing nearby Foundry Road which leads to MyCiti bus & Salt River train station 300 meters away, 500 meters to Old Biscuit Mill in the other direction. There’ll be trees and greenery and benches on the street.

For the moment nearby Foundry Road is in an unacceptably appalling condition. It looks like a third world country. The CoCT finally fired their hopeless contractor.

A new contractor will do … something we hope, starting from January 2027. Well, this is Cape Town. Let’s see. And hope.

Anyway, despite the temporary 100% failure near us , we’re 12 minutes walk to Riverlands Mall in Observatory, with Checkers, Woolies, Clicks and the new Amazon HQ.

Transport: choice of mad taxis, reliable Golden Arrow buses, Salt River train station & MyCiti bus near by, Jammie Shuttle 1.2 kms.

Most importantly, we always have the most interesting mix of tenants. A broadening of mind experience.

Every past student chef is at a big name 5 star South African restaurant: The Test Kitchen, Pot Luck Club, La Colombe, Homespun, La Petite Colombe in Franschhoek, Shortmarket Club Johannesburg, Waterside at the V&A. One has been a judge on chef competitions, worked in USA, lectures to budding chefs.

An engineering student won the top award for his work, the only one out of 20 interns to be offered a permanent job.

Another student won a category Best Chef award at the renowned Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town.
